It didn't need a strap, as the jaw stretched wide enough that the teeth alone held it in. I made one once out of a super sized high bounce ball. Extra large: Up to 2.5–3.0 inches, these are serious jaw stretchers.Anyone who would use a medium gag or bigger can probably close their lips around this, defeating any drooling that you may want. Extra small: Maybe 1.0–1.25 inches in diameter, I frequently see these made from whiffle golf balls.Large: For big guys, these measure about two inches in diameter, which is a satisfying size that will stretch smaller mouths quite a bit. These are mostly what you'll see floating around catalogs. Medium: The standard size, approximately 1.67–1.75 inches in diameter. Some ball gags which have the ball on a post to push it into the middle of the mouth use this size for larger people because the middle of the mouth can't get as large as the front of the mouth. Small: Approximately 1.5 inch ball diameter. ![]() There are three primary sizes of ball gags commonly sold on the Internet: Silicone is a great material, and would make an excellent ball gag. I have not seen any ball gags made out of silicone, which is a dang shame. Some gags are inflatable and ball-shaped. Gags made of other materials exist in the same general shape as ball gags: A leather ball gag is routinely called a stuffed leather gag and a more oval-shaped rubber or leather gag is referred to as a penis gag. I have also seen gags made of rock, such as granite and metal, but those are very hard materials that are not really suitable for a proper gagging except as a decorative measure. Foam rubber gags are probably the least attractive of these to own, because they are hard to clean and degrade quickly, but they are very soft and pliable. Plastic gags can be solid and hard or constructed like a whiffle ball, so as to allow copious amounts of drool to pass through the gag, for those in the crowd who are really drool afficinados. Jelly, which is usually some sort of rubber-like amalgam that is softer, squishier, more colorful, and less durable than rubber, makes an excellent beginner gag, as it has a lot of give and comes in pretty colors. Rubber (Possibly latex rubber) is very popular in the porno crowd. ![]() There are four primary materials that are used to construct ball gags. They are mostly to serve as a reminder to shut up, function as a sensation toy, or prevent intelligible speech. If air can pass through the nose, the larynx can work its magic and sound will be produced. Ball gags are identifiable by some manner of, well, ball attached to a strap or harness designed to hold said ball in between the bottom's teeth (At the front of the mouth) or behind the teeth in the middle of the mouth. Very commonly found in a wide variety of smut, a ball gag is a BDSM (Specifically bondage) implement that is used to encourage silence in a submissive or bottom. ![]() ![]() ![]() Appliances such as the Fabricator will drain energy from the Seabase. In this case, leaks will be limited to only the module that was hit and will not spread, making Bulkheads an effective method of preventing widespread flooding.Įnergy can be provided to a Seabase by building various types of generators near or inside the Seabase. This is most likely to occur if the player hits the base with a Cyclops, as aggressive Fauna cannot damage bases. To avoid this, quickly increase the base's integrity (by either adding strengthening components or removing weak components) and fix all hull breaches in the base using a Repair Tool.Ī Seabase that receives damage to its exterior will also spring leaks, but the hull integrity will be unaffected. Bulkheads can compartmentalize the base and prevent floodwaters from moving between compartments, but if the integrity remains below zero then eventually every compartment will develop a leak and the base will fill with water. Any corridor or room that is connected to the breach will begin flooding with water. When the hull integrity of a Seabase is less than or equal to zero, it will begin to form hull breaches. Hull integrity can be increased by constructing Reinforcement panels, placing a Seabase on or near a Foundation (foundations built on top of rooms will still provide their benefit), or installing Bulkheads on the ends of Compartment modules. As Seabases are built at a greater depth the integrity reduction caused by each module will increase. The majority of the modules will lower the integrity once added but the amount will vary by module. Hull Integrity refers to the ability of the player's Seabase to withstand the pressure of the surrounding water. ![]() Power is still needed for them to operate, but not to provide oxygen. When on land, hull integrity is not a factor, and bases can be built without the need for additional Reinforcements, Foundations, or Bulkheads. Other base components, power generators, appliances and, furniture, can be found in Wrecks.ĭespite their name, Seabases can be built on land. These abandoned Seabases provide blueprints for additional base components that the player doesn't have access to by default, such as the Multipurpose Room and the Observatory. Spoiler alert: The following section contains story related material.ĭegasi Seabases can be found at the center and on the tops of the mountains of the Floating Island, Jellyshroom Cave, and Deep Grand Reef. The player can acquire Blueprints which allow additional module types to be created. ![]() The initial compartment must be built on or near the ground (or on a Foundation, which is not necessary but provides greater Hull Integrity and a flat surface to work with), but any additional compartments can overhang without any issue, allowing bases to be built over cliffsides. The player will start with most of the blueprints they need for a basic Seabase at the bare minimum, one needs a Compartment, a Hatch, and a power generator (the Solar Panel is unlocked by default). This occurs even if they die while inside the base in question: thus, quickly building a single I Compartment and a Hatch on the seabed can be a valid tactic to secure the player's inventory if they are about to die. ![]() In all Game Modes except Creative Mode, entering a Seabase secures the player's inventory, so if the player dies, they will return to the last Seabase they visited (Lifepod 5 and a Cyclops also count as Seabases for this purpose) and keep all the items in their inventory that they had when they were there. Thus Seabases provide safe havens away from the Safe Shallows the player starts in. Within a seabase, the player can construct additional storage space, grow food, access Appliances not available in Lifepod 5, and add aesthetic options. Made from a lightweight-concrete mixture, with steel-reinforcement, these permanent concrete beehives are resistant to theft, vandalism, pests, fires, harsh weather and badgers. The wooden hives have to be treated with chemicals to keep the bugs and water out, while plastic (leaving aside the environmental and bee health issues) the hives have to be painted to protect them from the sun. Weathering and wood parasites/pests force beekeepers to undertake arduous maintenance procedures every few years. Room for improvementĪpple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) kicks off in a few weeks on 7th June. So far, the company has said nothing.Įxpanding on this inclusive approach, the next AirPods advert, rather than showing a fit young person dancing down the street, it would be great if Apple could show how AirPods and Siri can help a disabled user answer phone calls and keep in touch with friends and family more easily. However, I do have a slight worry that some disabled users may miss out, should Apple fail to properly market it. I hope this is because the company has taken an inclusive design approach, which sees accessibility features incorporated into the core product, rather than siloed off as part of the operating system where they can be ignored. Accessibility feature or inclusive design approach?Ĭuriously, Apple hasn't explicitly highlighted this new 'answer calls with Siri' ability as an accessibility feature. If you too could do nothing about someone wrenching your phone from its holder as bold as brass and strolling off with it, you too would prefer to have it stowed away and rely on Siri through your AirPods as your main interface to all your iPhone's functions. In any case, Voice Control relies on your iPhone being out and on display and unlocked with Face ID, but this is not my preferred setup when out and about. Unfortunately, Apple’s accessibility speech recognition app Voice Control can’t answer and hang up calls. I always found this situation untenable and it is good to see the company has finally acted. Almost since Siri launched, you could place a call with a voice command, but until now you couldn't answer a call in the same way. I’ve lobbied Apple to include this ability for the past four years. It will change my life going forward as I can now easily and spontaneously answer the numerous phone calls, I receive each day hands-free with just my voice. ![]() ![]() Hans Moravec, a doctoral student of McCarthy at the time, stated that “computers were still millions of times too weak to exhibit intelligence.” As patience dwindled so did the funding, and research came to a slow roll for ten years. In order to communicate, for example, one needs to know the meanings of many words and understand them in many combinations. The biggest was the lack of computational power to do anything substantial: computers simply couldn’t store enough information or process it fast enough. In 1970 Marvin Minsky told Life Magazine, “from three to eight years we will have a machine with the general intelligence of an average human being.” However, while the basic proof of principle was there, there was still a long way to go before the end goals of natural language processing, abstract thinking, and self-recognition could be achieved.īreaching the initial fog of AI revealed a mountain of obstacles. Optimism was high and expectations were even higher. The government was particularly interested in a machine that could transcribe and translate spoken language as well as high throughput data processing. These successes, as well as the advocacy of leading researchers (namely the attendees of the DSRPAI) convinced government agencies such as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to fund AI research at several institutions. Early demonstrations such as Newell and Simon’s General Problem Solver and Joseph Weizenbaum’s ELIZA showed promise toward the goals of problem solving and the interpretation of spoken language respectively. Machine learning algorithms also improved and people got better at knowing which algorithm to apply to their problem. ![]() Computers could store more information and became faster, cheaper, and more accessible. Roller Coaster of Success and Setbacksįrom 1957 to 1974, AI flourished. The significance of this event cannot be undermined as it catalyzed the next twenty years of AI research. Despite this, everyone whole-heartedly aligned with the sentiment that AI was achievable. Sadly, the conference fell short of McCarthy’s expectations people came and went as they pleased, and there was failure to agree on standard methods for the field. In this historic conference, McCarthy, imagining a great collaborative effort, brought together top researchers from various fields for an open ended discussion on artificial intelligence, the term which he coined at the very event. It’s considered by many to be the first artificial intelligence program and was presented at the Dartmouth Summer Research Project on Artificial Intelligence (DSRPAI) hosted by John McCarthy and Marvin Minsky in 1956. The Logic Theorist was a program designed to mimic the problem solving skills of a human and was funded by Research and Development (RAND) Corporation. The Conference that Started it Allįive years later, the proof of concept was initialized through Allen Newell, Cliff Shaw, and Herbert Simon’s, Logic Theorist. A proof of concept as well as advocacy from high profile people were needed to persuade funding sources that machine intelligence was worth pursuing. Only prestigious universities and big technology companies could afford to dillydally in these uncharted waters. ![]() In the early 1950s, the cost of leasing a computer ran up to $200,000 a month. Second, computing was extremely expensive. In other words, computers could be told what to do but couldn’t remember what they did. Before 1949 computers lacked a key prerequisite for intelligence: they couldn’t store commands, only execute them. What stopped Turing from getting to work right then and there? First, computers needed to fundamentally change. Turing suggested that humans use available information as well as reason in order to solve problems and make decisions, so why can’t machines do the same thing? This was the logical framework of his 1950 paper, Computing Machinery and Intelligence in which he discussed how to build intelligent machines and how to test their intelligence. One such person was Alan Turing, a young British polymath who explored the mathematical possibility of artificial intelligence. By the 1950s, we had a generation of scientists, mathematicians, and philosophers with the concept of artificial intelligence (or AI) culturally assimilated in their minds. It began with the “heartless” Tin man from the Wizard of Oz and continued with the humanoid robot that impersonated Maria in Metropolis. In the first half of the 20 th century, science fiction familiarized the world with the concept of artificially intelligent robots. ![]() ![]() ![]() SoftPerfect Network Scanner can ping computers, scan ports, discover shared folders and retrieve practically any information about network devices via WMI, SNMP, HTTP, SSH and PowerShell.
